Arkas Line has expanded its refrigerated container fleet with the addition of 500 new reefer units as part of efforts to strengthen its temperature-controlled cargo capabilities and support growing demand in the cold chain logistics sector.

The investment is aimed at enhancing the company’s ability to transport perishable and temperature-sensitive cargo, including food products, pharmaceuticals, agricultural produce and frozen goods across international trade routes. Industry sources said rising global demand for reliable cold chain transportation continues to drive investments in reefer infrastructure.

The newly added reefer containers are expected to improve cargo handling flexibility and provide customers with greater access to temperature-controlled shipping solutions. Shipping analysts noted that reefer demand has been increasing steadily due to expanding global trade in fresh produce, seafood, healthcare products and processed foods.

Arkas Line said the fleet expansion aligns with its strategy to strengthen service reliability and support customers with improved cold chain logistics capacity. The move is also expected to help the company capture higher-value cargo segments within the container shipping market.

Industry experts highlighted that shipping lines are increasingly investing in specialised equipment and digital monitoring technologies to ensure cargo integrity and meet stricter quality standards in temperature-sensitive supply chains.
