CMA CGM has upgraded its Eagle Express 1 (EE1) service connecting Japan with the US West Coast, deploying larger vessels and enhancing schedule reliability to meet steady transpacific demand.

The capacity boost on the Japan–USWC loop is aimed at supporting exporters of automotive parts, machinery, electronics and consumer goods, as well as US-bound retail cargo. The carrier said the revised deployment will offer improved slot availability and more competitive transit times between key Japanese ports and major West Coast gateways.

Industry sources indicated that the upgrade includes the introduction of higher-capacity ships and optimized port rotations to streamline operations. The move is also expected to strengthen connections with inland rail networks in the United States, improving supply chain efficiency for importers.

The Japan–US West Coast corridor remains a critical trade lane within the broader transpacific market. Shipping lines have been adjusting fleet allocations and service structures to balance fluctuating volumes, manage congestion risks and maintain schedule integrity.

CMA CGM noted that the enhanced Eagle Express 1 service underscores its commitment to providing reliable and flexible transport solutions on strategic Asia–North America routes.
