Global logistics provider Kuehne+Nagel is set to significantly expand its air cargo operations at Frankfurt Airport with the development of a new, purpose-built facility, strengthening its presence at one of Europe’s busiest air freight hubs. The move underlines the company’s focus on enhancing capacity, efficiency, and connectivity across its global air logistics network.
The new facility, to be located at Fraport’s CargoCity South, will serve as a central hub for Kuehne+Nagel’s air freight activities in Germany. Designed to handle a wide range of cargo types, the site will support general cargo as well as specialist shipments such as pharmaceuticals, perishables, and high-value goods. Once operational, it is expected to streamline handling processes and reduce transit times for customers across key trade lanes.
Kuehne+Nagel said the expansion reflects sustained demand for air cargo services, particularly for time-critical and temperature-sensitive shipments. Frankfurt’s strong global connectivity, extensive freighter network, and integrated road and rail links make it a strategic location for supporting both European distribution and long-haul intercontinental flows.
Sustainability and digitalisation will be central to the new facility’s design. Plans include energy-efficient building systems, optimised warehouse layouts, and advanced IT solutions to improve shipment visibility and operational performance. These measures align with Kuehne+Nagel’s wider strategy to reduce emissions while maintaining high service reliability.
With the Frankfurt expansion, Kuehne+Nagel aims to reinforce its role as a leading air logistics provider in Europe, offering customers enhanced capacity, faster processing, and improved end-to-end supply chain solutions at a critical global gateway.
