Ocean Network Express has introduced its new MAX Africa service, expanding connectivity between Asia, the Mediterranean, and key African markets through strategic transshipment hubs.

The service will link major Mediterranean ports with destinations across Africa, enabling more efficient cargo movement and improved transit times. By leveraging established Med hubs, ONE aims to optimize network flexibility while offering customers enhanced routing options.

Industry sources said the MAX Africa loop is designed to cater to growing trade demand between Asia and Africa, particularly in sectors such as consumer goods, machinery, and project cargo. The use of transshipment hubs allows the carrier to streamline operations and maintain service reliability across multiple trade lanes.

The move comes amid increasing focus by global shipping lines on strengthening intra-regional and emerging market connectivity. Africa, in particular, has been witnessing rising container traffic driven by infrastructure development and expanding consumer markets.

ONE noted that the new service will also support better schedule integrity and reduce congestion risks by distributing cargo flows more efficiently across its network.

The launch of the MAX Africa loop underscores the carrier’s strategy to enhance its global service portfolio while tapping into high-growth trade corridors, positioning itself to capture increasing volumes in the Africa-bound shipping segment.
